Businessmen - Do you have a problem?
Cash is coming in but the minute it does there’s someone demanding it - and more! There’s the rent and rates, the staff want their wages, and your local supplier wants money for the goods he’s sent you already. Then there’s a letter from the Sheriff Officers threatening to seize your stock and household furniture unless you pay them this months takings in seven days time - and it’s only the first of the month.
You’ve overlooked the phone bill and BT has sent the second red reminder so it might be getting disconnected anytime now. Of course the arrears you have with the VAT & Income Tax people are a bit more pressing and lets face it, there isn’t really enough money in the kitty to pay everyone and buy more stock anyway.
You could run the vehicles without tax and insurance or just skip the HP for a month or two, your mate says hardly anyone gets caught. Of course if you hold back the NI for the staff a few weeks as well this could tide you over.
The bank bounces a cheque and charges you £35.00 you don’t have in the account anyway every other day for a week. The supplier of your best selling stock tells you it’s “cash only” until you pay the last few deliveries and the extra you bought for Christmas. Customers all seem to go to the superstore or shop on the internet nowadays and anyway, everyone’s prices seem cheaper than yours.
The Sheriff Officers h ave just been to seize your assets but luckily it was your half day closing and you were at the golf course for stress relief. The car has just failed its MOT and the bank is phoning to discuss your overdraft for the third time this week. You’re embarrassed to discuss it in front of your staff so you tell your secretary to say you’re out on a big deal meeting. When you go to call him back the phone’s been cut off..................................
Does any of this ring a bell? Are you in a similar or even worse position than this?
If so, help is at hand.........................................
